Damn Iain, I feel really sorry for you. It's sad yet amazing hearing what has happened to you, yet you still continue to move forward.

Alright now, I've figured out a way to get free dialup - nothing to download, no BS. All you need is a modem and a cellphone with long distance. Cingular with unlimited Nights and Weekends works great.

Basically what makes all this work is a special code you enter on your cellphone. You dial *21*XXX-XXX-XXXX# on your cell. This is a special code that makes the phone forward all calls to a specific number, which is what the X's are. To exit this mode, dial #21#.

Now there are places that offer free dialup, but they are located in New England. So, using the cellphone hack, you enter the number of one of the dialup servers as the X's on your cellphone, and using your computer, set up a connection with the username as "guest" and the password as "password". But, you put your cellphone number as the number to dial.

When you connect, your modem dials your cellphone, which routes the call to the number you specified. This is a great way to get long distance using your cellphone minutes!

Note: When you do this, it uses your cellphone minutes. Make sure to call your provider to make sure there isnt an extra charge for the long distance call.

I usually hate having to say sentimental stuff, but I want to make an exception for a situation like this.

Cherish the time you've got left with your Mum, make sure she knows how much you love her. You definitely don't deserve this to happen to you, I can't even comprehend how awful it must be for you and your sister, the fact you haven't completely broken down shows that you're an extremely strong person, I know I couldn't do it.

You and your sister aren't going to be alone, obviously I don't know your exact circumstances, but there are going to be a lot of family, extended family, friends of the family and friends of yours and your sisters who are going to want to help to support you. Make sure your sister knows that you're always there for her though, and vice versa, cause you're the only two people who are going to be able to understand how each other feels.
