ok, since i moved to belfast i've been borrowing my bro's ps2 like nothing normal and am thinking of getting 1.

he has the old style 1 with a harddrive in it which is great, but obviously i'd be getting a slimline, here is my question.

if i get a slimline with usb extreme and an external harddrive, whats the easiest way to download and put the game on it? my belfast d/l speed is far superior than my old 1 so dont see why i should rent games any more, alsoi'm guessing putting games on external hard drive is easier than onto non-external 1s

If your PS2 is completely modded (via Mod-Chip) or if you have a Swap-Disc you can use some FTP programs (PUKKLink, ExecFTP) I never got them to work, but i have a f'd up network anyways. I also think that USB Extreme formats the external HD to the "PS2 HD" format or something. I don't know if this would work, but I have used HDAdvance and HDLoader, but give this a try.

Set up your USB Extreme (Let it format your hard drive)

After it has formatted you need to plug it in to your computer. (Try it with the USB)

Then right-click on My Computer>Manage>Storage>Disk Management

You should see every hard drive, disk drive, mass storage, etc. connected to your computer. The PS2 drive may need to be Initialized (Locate, Right-Click on Disk 1,2,3, or whatever it is and click initialize.)

Assuming this worked, you need to get a program such as hdl_dumb or ps2hddut. These programs should be able to locate your PS2 formatted and I think you could figure it out from there.

I think this should work because when I add games for HDAdvance I simply remove the HD from the PS2 and pop it in a USB external case I have and it works no problems.

yeah, i've found winhiip and tested it on my bro's computer, it picked up the ps2 formatted HDD, if i could get the usb extreme version for the slimline and that software works via usb then i'll be happy
